Are The Biological Batteries? These Bacteria Can Create a World Based on Renewable Energy

It seems that this will not be the year of linux on the desktop, but it may be the year of renewables in our outlets. We have tried many things, but today’s technology makes to still be difficult to get that power is 100 per one hundred green in most countries of the world.

A Dutch research group just announced in Environmental Science & Technology Letters that have developed the first a bacteria-based rechargeable battery. Yes, bacteria. It sounds weird but the future of renewable energy may depend on them.

The novelty is that a team of researchers have developed a useful model of rechargeable battery based on two different microbial systems: one uses bacteria which, to be stimulated with electricity, producing acetate and others that produce acetate by consuming electricity.
